Project Description:

The Department has made a tentative determination to modify the existing SPDES permit issued to Lapp Insulators, LLC which authorizes discharge of noncontact cooling water, industrustrial wastewater, laboratory water, and stormwater to Oatka Creek, from the insulator manufacturing process. The facility has removed their soil vapor extraction (SVE) system because a site clean-up has been completed. This modification includes removal of monitoring requirements which were required in the permit previously due to the SVE system including several volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The Department seeks comments prior to making a final decision. The file is available for review at the NYSDEC Region 8 office in Avon.

Project Description:

The Department has made a tentative determination to modify the existing SPDES permit issued to the Village of Honeoye Falls Wastewater Treatment Facility which authorizes the discharge of 0.6 million gallons per day of treated sanitary effluent to Honeye Creek. The modification includes a slight increase in the copper limit based on revised water quality hardness data from the creek. The applicant will be required to contiue to monitor hardness on a monthly basis. The Department seeks comments prior to making a final decision. The permit is available for review and comment at NYSDEC Region 8.

Project Description:

Timothy Hansen proposes to add a wash plant to the current crushing and screening material processing operations at his 30.9 acre sand and gravel mine on Hanson Point Road in the Town of Torrey. Process water will be obtained from agricultural field tile drainage stored in a clay lined pond excavated above the local ground water elevation. Used process water will be directed to a sedimentation pond and a settling pond to contain any fine suspended materials, with settled fine material to be excavated for use in final site reclamation.

No other changes are proposed for the mining operation. Final reclamation will convert the site to open vegetated land and will include the replacement of stockpiled topsoil and settled material from the sedimentation pond, and re-seeding to establish a vegetative cover.

Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.
