Project Description:

The applicant proposes modification of the existing dam (NYS ID # 163-0193) which impounds Lake Louise Marie (NYS Waters Index # D-1-35- P 40) and disturbance to the outlet stream McKee Brook (NYS Waters Index # D-1-35). Proposed work includes leveling of the crest elevation to a uniform 1531.0 feet above sea level, stabilization of the upstream embankment with riprap, installation a low-level outlet to facilitate rapid lowering of the lake, removal of the existing service and auxiliary spillways, installation of a labyrinth spillway with a stilling basin, and stone-armoring of the stream bed below the new low-level outlet and of the discharge channel to the existing stream bed. The modifications are proposed to address safety concerns with the existing dam. A total of 70 cubic yards of material will be placed below mean high water within Lake Louise Marie and 30 cubic yard of material in McKee Brook.

The Village of Tarrytown proposes to rehabilitate the waterfront at Pierson and Losee Parks located on the Hudson River just north of the Tappan Zee Bridge. Project activities include: 1) extending the existing fishing pier located in the southwest corner of Pierson Park by 423 sq. ft.; 2) constructing a kayak launch at the southwest corner of Losee Park by cutting 500 CY of material and placing 30 CY of rip rap below mean high water; and 3) enhancing the tidal and riparian habit value of Andre Brook by excavating 450 CY of sediment and stabilizing its banks with plantings and riprap.
