Negative Declaration

Wayne County - The Village of Newark Board of Trustees, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Wastewater Treatment Plant, New Outfall Location and Collection System Improvements Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a series of improvements to the existing Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), replacement of the existing East Newark Pump Station, remediate a significant portion of the Village's sanitary sewer infiltration/inflow (I/I) and rehabilitation/ replacement of the WWTP outfall to New York State Erie Canal. This includes the installation of approximately 2,800 linear feet of 36 inch diameter pipe from the Village of Newark WWTP to a discharge location at the New York State Erie Canal. The outfall will be aligned along a southeast corridor through an existing golf course, across a rail road siding, through an industrial property, and across Van Buren Street. The majority of this pipe will be installed by open cut trenching of a 5 foot wide by 10 foot ± deep trench. A short 50 foot long segment under the rail road siding will be installed by a cased boring. The project is located on Murray Street and Vienna Street Road in the Village of Newark, Town of Arcadia, New York.
