Project Description:

The applicant proposes the construction of two (2) new 12"x10" diameter wells for public water supply. Well #1 will be approximately 280 feet deep, Well #2 will be approximately 380 feet deep. Each well will be rated at 400 gpm and serve the Southold low water supply system. The wells will be located at the newly constructed Herricks Lane North Well Field in Northvile, Town of Riverhead, (SCTM# 600-9-2-6.3). (WSA-11563)

Project is an Unlisted Action and will not have a significant impact on the environment. A Negative Declaration is on file. A coordinated review was not performed.

SEQR Lead Agency: None Designated

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Jan 26, 2012.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to install an open-loop geothermal well system for heating and cooling of the planned new Tuttle Avenue Elementary School consisting of two supply wells (each 160 feet deep and capable of producing 550 gpm but only one pump will operate at a time) and three diffusion wells (each 160 feet deep) and associated piping, manifold, valves, sensors, controls and appurtenances with a portion of the geothermal return water reused for the irrigation of the school's athletic fields. The facility is located at 390 Montauk Highway, SCTM#900-34-1-42.2, Eastport, Southampton Town, Suffolk County.
