Project Description:

The Village of Angelica has applied for a Water Supply permit (WSA# 11,470) to take a supply of water for use in the existing system by the installation of one new well (West Almond Well No. 2) having a tested capacity of 143 gallons per minute to replace an existing well (WSA #7139) which is no longer reliable. The Village of Angelica water system serves a population of approximately 903 through 415 connections. The current average daily demand (ADD) is approximately 100,000 gallons per day and the 20 year projected maximum daily demand (MDD) is 158,000 gallons per day. The project also includes installation of water treatment for the existing spring source. The Department is seeking comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance. As such, this tentative determination does not signify Department approval for or endorsement of the activity for which a permit is sought.

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

The Department has prepared a draft permit (NY0204625) and made a tentative determination to re-issue the permit for the surface discharge of up to 975 gallons per day of treated sanitary wastewater to the West Branch of the Niagara River, a Class A waterbody, from a sand filtration/chlorination wastewater treatment system and two subsurface discharges totalling up to 1400 gallons per day from two septic tank/leachfield wastewater treatment systems at the above-referenced facility on Park Road in the Town of Grand Island. The Department is seeking comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance. A draft permit is available for review.
