The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has added a link to a translation service developed by Microsoft Inc., entitled Bing Translator, as a convenience to visitors to the DEC website who speak languages other than English.

Public Notice

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) has determined that site ID # 907001, known as the Carborundum-Falconer Monofrax site, may be deleted from the New York State Registry of Inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites. This site is located in the Village of Falconer, within the County of Chautauqua, and is located at 501 New York Avenue. Comments regarding this action must be submitted no later than December 12, 2011. Negative Declaration

Erie County - Erie County, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Erie County Rainwater Harvesting System Installation will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the installation by Erie County of cisterns at 5 municipal facilities to capture and store precipitation for street sweeping, vehicle washing and irrigation purposes. The cisterns will reduce the volume of rainwater entering storm sewers and decrease the need to purchase municipal potable water for those purposes. Cisterns will be installed at the following facilities:

  1. Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens; 2451 South Park Avenue, Buffalo, New York.
  2. Town of Aurora Highway Garage; 119 Ellicott Road, West Falls, New York.
  3. Town of Tonawanda Highway Garage; 500 Woodward Avenue, Tonawanda, New York.
  4. Town of Tonawanda Senior Center; 291 Ensminger Road, Tonawanda, New York.
  5. Village of Orchard Park Department of Public Works; 100 West Highland Avenue, Orchard Park, New York.
