Notice of Acceptance of Draft GEIS and Public Hearing

Erie County - The State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed University at Buffalo Comprehensive Physical Plan. A public hearing on the Draft GEIS will be held on November 29, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute, 700 Ellicott Street, Buffalo, NY 14203. Off street parking will be available at the lot at 589 Ellicott Street across from the Trico building. Written comments on the Draft GEIS will be accepted until December 12, 2011. Copies of the Draft GEIS will be made available at the Central Library of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Libraries, University at Buffalo's Oscar A. Silverman Undergraduate Library in Capen Hall on the North Campus, Health Science Library in Abbott Hall on the South Campus and on-line at: http://www.buffalo.edu/ub2020/building_ub/planning_at_ub/state_environmental_quality_review.html.

The action involves the development of a Comprehensive Physical Plan which will guide the growth and development of the University at Buffalo in support of its plan for academic excellence. The Preliminary Plan concepts would expand and enhance University at Buffalo's facilities at its three campuses, providing approximately six and a half (6.5) to seven (7) million additional gross square feet of building space to accommodate the projected addition of 10,000 students, 1,000 faculty, and 2,750 staff by the year 2030. The project is located on the three University at Buffalo Campuses as follows:

Notice of Acceptance of Final EIS

Erie County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has accepted a Final Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Waterman Gravel Mine Expansion. The Final EIS is available at the NYS DEC - Region 9 Office, 270 Michigan Avenue Buffalo, NY; the Concord Town Hall, 86 Franklin Street, Springville, NY; the Concord Public Library, 18 Chapel Street, Springville, NY. The Final EIS is also available on line at: ftp.glynngroup.com, Username: Waterman2011, Password: 2011Expansion.

The action involves the mining of land (approximately 8.2 acres) adjacent to the previously approved mining area. In addition, the excavation depth of the entire mining area is proposed to be approximately 67.5 feet below the groundwater table. The modification request also includes the addition of a wash plant to the presently permitted crushing and screening operations. The presently approved agricultural reclamation plan is proposed to be changed from agricultural reuse of the land, to the creation of a lake, with a surface area of approximately 44.2 acres. The project is located at 12316 Route 240 (Vaughn Street) in the Town of Concord, New York.
