The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) has determined that site ID # 932049 known as the Stauffer Chemical-Art Park Site, may be deleted from the New York State Registry of Inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites. This site is located in the village of Lewiston, within the County of Niagara, and is located at the end of 4th Street. Comments regarding this action must be submitted no later than November 7, 2011. Extension of Comment Period
Notice is hereby given that a draft request for proposals for refuse and recycling contracts for the Town of Wheatfield have been filed and are available in the office of the Wheatfield Town Clerk and in the North Tonawanda Public Library and the Sanborn Public Library.
Interested parties may comment upon the draft request for proposals by submitting written comments to the Wheatfield Town Clerk at 2800 Church Road, North Tonawanda, NY 14120 on or before October 11, 2011.
In accordance with New York State General Municipal Law 120-w, it is the intention of the Town of Wheatfield to enter into negotiations for an agreement with the contractor(s) whose proposal(s), in the judgment of the Town of Wheatfield, best serves the Town of Wheatfield's needs, considering net costs, technical feasibility and reliability, resources, financial condition, risk allocation, and experience in similar operations.
The time for interested parties to comment upon the draft request for proposals by submitting written comments to the Wheatfield Town Clerk at 2800 Church Road, North Tonawanda, NY 14120 is now extended and comments will be accepted until October 24, 2011.

Wyoming County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Quakertown Gravel Pit will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the mining of sand and gravel from 26.4 acres of land owned by Edward Hulme and Northeast Timberlands LLC. The proposal includes sand and gravel material processing with a small crusher and a small (80-100 tons per hour) power screen. The reclamation objective is reforestation of various native tree and plant species. The project is located on the north side of Quakertown Road approximately one-half mile west of Hermitage Road in the Town of Orangeville, New York.
