Positive Declaration and Public Scoping
Albany County - The Town Board of the Town of Bethlehem, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Wemple Comers Rezoning Petition may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. Written comments on the draft scope will be accepted until October 17, 2011. A public scoping session will be held on October 12, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bethlehem Town Hall, 445 Delaware Avenue, Delmar, NY. The action involves a petition by Milltowne Plaza, Inc. to rezone 95 acres of land from Mixed Economic Development District (MED) to Commercial Hamlet District (CH). The stated purpose of the rezoning is to allow subsequent construction of a mixed use development consisting of conventional apartments (240 units), senior apartments (150 units), mixed use apartments (80 units), twin homes (56 units), retail commercial uses (106,000 square feet) and professional offices (39,000 square feet). The project is located at US Route 9W and Wemple Road in the Town of Bethlehem, New York.
