Project Description:

The project involves the phasing out of an existing municipal highway pad site operation, redevelopment of an existing public park to create botanical gardens and associated botanical park structures and improvements and replacement of an existing municipal swimming pool with a spray water park on a 27.443 acre site. The project includes restoration of degraded wetland habitat, future connection to sewer infrastructure, creation of a stormwater infiltration basin to treat existing stormwater runoff, removal of invasive plants and shrubs and replacement with wetland and native plants, trees and shrubs, creation of additional aquatic habitat and water features, the dredging of 833 yards of sediment from the stream and 7775 cubic yards of sediment from Geiger Lake. The project site is located within the Carll's River watershed on the south side of Long Island Avenue at Deer Park, Town of Babylon, and County of Suffolk, NY.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is not subject to SEQR because it is a Type II action.

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

The proposed activity is not subject to review in accordance with SHPA. The permit type is exempt or the activity is being reviewed in accordance with federal historic preservation regulations.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:
