Project Description:

The Department has received an application to modify the wastewater discharge permit for the above referenced facility located at 560 Smith Road in the Town of Amherst. The modification involves addition of an internal monitoring point (02A) and implementation of a net discharge limit on the 50 mg/l Total Suspended Solids (TSS) at Outfall 002 due to elevated ambient TSS concentrations in the water of the constructed wetland. Overflows from the constructed wetland treatment system discharge to a swale which eventually flows into Tonawanda Creek, a class C waterbody.

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve this modification. As a tentative determination, the Department is seeking public comment prior to making a final decision on permit issuance. A draft permit is available for review.
