Transportation of Solid Waste to the Oneida-Herkimer Landfill for Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Management Authority

The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority (OHSWA) desires to procure an agreement (pursuant to Section 120-w of New York State Municipal Law) for 5 years beginning October 24, 2011 for transportation of non-recyclable waste from 2 transfer stations to the Oneida-Herkimer Landfill, Ava, NY. Negative Declaration

Jefferson County - The Village of Sackets Harbor Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Madison Barracks Subdivision will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a request by the applicant, Lawler Realty, for a subdivision of a portion of their property at Madison Barracks to create sixteen (16) separate lots for single family residences. The project is located at Madison Barracks in the Village of Sackets Harbor, New York.

Herkimer and Lewis Counties - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Independence River Wild Forest Draft Unit Management Plan Amendment may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves NYS DEC's completion of the Draft Amendment to the Independence River Wild Forest Unit Management Plan (UMP) in conformance with the November 2009 "Management Guidance - Snowmobile Trail Siting, Construction and Maintenance on Forest Preserve Lands in the Adirondack Park". Accordingly, some trails and trail segments in the unit are proposed for closure, while new trails are proposed to be constructed in more environmentally suitable locations. In addition, snowmobile trail classes were identified for each trail that will remain open.

The Independence River Wild Forest is located in the Towns of Watson, Greig, and Lyonsdale in Lewis County, New York and the Town of Webb in Herkimer County, New York.

Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS and Public Hearing

Herkimer and Lewis Counties - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Independence River Wild Forest Draft Unit Management Plan Amendment. A public meeting will be held on July 19th, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the NYS DEC - Region 6 Lowville Sub Office, 7327 State Route 812, Lowville, NY. Written comments are welcome and will be accepted, by mail or e-mail, by the contact person until July 29, 2011. Copies of the draft amendment/Draft EIS are posted on the NYS DEC website at: http://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/22574.html.
