Public Notice

Public Scoping for the Lake George Deltas Sediment Management/Shoreline Restoration Project

On April 25, 2011, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) issued a Positive Declaration of Significance for three separate proposals in which authorizations were requested to remove delta sediments from Finkle Brook, Hague Brook and Indian Brook. The NYS DEC Identification Numbers are: 5-5220-00346/00001, 5-5226-00159/00001 and 5-5220-00035/00005, respectively. The Positive Declaration was published in the May 4, 2011 Environmental Notice Bulletin (ENB). These three projects are subject to the Final Generic Environmental Impact Statement (Final GEIS) for the Lake George Association, Inc.'s "Lake George Deltas Sediment Management/Shoreline Restoration Project", for which a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) must be prepared.

NYS DEC is soliciting public comment on the Scope of Issues which should be addressed in the SEIS. A Public Scoping Session to receive public comment on the issues and studies appropriate for the environmental impact review will be held at the Town of Bolton Town Hall on May 25, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. The purpose of this Session is to focus the SEIS on potentially significant adverse impacts and to eliminate consideration of those impacts that have already been assessed in the Final GEIS, or are irrelevant or not significant. Oral or written comments on the Scope of Issues may be presented during this session. It is not necessary to file in advance to speak at the Public Scoping Session. Lengthy statements should be presented in writing and summarized for oral presentation. Written comments regarding the SEQRA review of this project may also be sent to: Marc S. Migliore, NYS DEC - Division of Environmental Permits, 232 Golf Course Road, Warrensburg, NY 12885, until the close of the comment period on June 6, 2011.
