Project Description:

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works, Division of Vector Control has applied for a new NYSDEC Article 24 Freshwater Wetlands permit to continue to apply larvicides as part of their overall mosquito management program. Application of larvicides throughout Suffolk County for mosquito control is one aspect of an overall program including prevention, surveillance, public education, water management and adulticiding. This authority to apply larvicides will be exercised in accordance with the Suffolk County Vector Control & Wetlands Management Long Term Plan and the NYSDEC Article 24 Freshwater Wetland permit.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is not subject to SEQR because it is a Type II action.

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

The proposed activity is not subject to review in accordance with SHPA. The permit type is exempt or the activity is being reviewed in accordance with federal historic preservation regulations.

Coastal Management:

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

The applicant proposes to remove a section of the existing bulkhead and construct a new boat ramp with steel sheeting within the existing mooring basin. Placement of 300 cubic yards of clean upland source fill material is proposed waterward of the bulkhead for boat ramp construction. The facility is located at the terminus of Lighthouse Road, north of New Winkle Point Road in the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County. SCTM # 0400-286-1-2.
