Project Description:

Construct cobblestone stepped breakwall along shoreline of Fourth Lake. Wall will run over the course of 146 linear feet of shoreline with two (2) 25' breaks of vegetated area and is being installed to replace deteriorated existing cobble/timber wall and stop further erosion which is significant especially in the area of the existing boathouse. The wall is stepped in order to provide dissipation of wave action and to allow passage of aquatic organisms and other wildlife. The wall will be 2 feet in height and not extend further lakeward than the adjoining properties breakwall.

Project Description:

Realignment of stream and installation of log/rock vanes to stabilize banks and prevent further movement of stream which is threatening driveway and Slaytonbush Pond. Use of logs will add additional fisheries habitat while protecting the bank from further erosion. Approximately 510' linear feet of stream will be impacted in two reaches (386' and 124') and moved eastward into an exiting gravel bed. Materials removed during realignment will be placed along the left bank in order to create a bankfull bench. A cross vane will be installed at the upstream end of the project area and six (6) vanes constructed from logs and/or stone will be installed moving downstream at varying intervals. The final log/stone vane in the upstream reach, will be constructed on the opposite bank (right as looking downstream) in order to redirect the streams energy toward center. A second cross vane will be installed at the upper end of the lower reach which will be followed by 2 additional log/stone vanes installed on the left bank and a final cross vane. All stone used in the construction of the vanes will be 24" diameter or larger. Construction entrances shall be temporary in nature and removed and seeded at the end of the project.

Project Description:

The Department has made a tentative determination to issue a State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit under Article 17 of the Environmental Conservation Law. The approved application is for an existing discharge of 7,500 gallons per day of ion exchange backwash wastewater from the Holman City Road Water Softening Plant through outfall 001 to an unnamed tributary to Sauquoit Creek, Waters Index Number H-240-219-21-1, a Class C(T) waterbody.

This tentative determination indicates that the discharge regulated under this statute satisfies regulatory standards for permit issuance, based on the information available to the Department at this time. As a tentative determination, the Department seeks comments on the regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance. As such, this tentative determination does not signify department approval for, or endorsement of, the activity for which a permit is sought for the overall project.
