The applicant proposes to construct a recreational access trail and fishing platform within the 100-foot adjacent area of State-designated Freshwater Wetland GR-1 (Class 1). The project will be located on the north side of the Lake Ontario State Parkway (LOSP) bridge over Salmon Creek. Work would occur within an already-mown portion of the regulated area and would include about 950 feet of the 5-foot wide trail, and construction of the 12 x 24-foot fishing platform on the west bank of Salmon Creek. The work would be undertaken in conjuction with the in-kind, in-place replacement of the LOSP bridge.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to increase its taking of water from Canandaigua Lake for use in the City of Canandaigua water supply and distribution system, which supplies the City of Canandaigua and surrounding Towns. As proposed the existing daily maximum of 6.0 million gallons per day (MGD) would be increased to an average daily taking of 6.0 MGD, and a maximum daily taking of up to 9.0 MGD. The proposed taking is expected to meet projected demand through the year 2030 within existing service areas; for the future expansion of existing service areas within the Towns of Hopewell, East Bloomfield, Canandaigua, Farmington, Hopewell, Manchester, and Palmyra; and for future service areas within the Towns of Bristol and South Bristol. Long-term implementation of the project will also include increase management of the Canandaigua Feeder Canal to ensure adequate bypass flows at the Canandaigua wastewater treatment plant discharge under drought conditions.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to modify their freshwater wetland permit for the creation of a wetland preserve/ mitigation area located at Freshwater Wetlands MA-12 & PR-23. Additional activities will include the use of fill and two culverts to raise the height of the existing berm/nature trail to reduce flooding caused by the increased pond elevation due to downstream beaver activity, make safety improvements to the existing nature trail system, the construction of two benches and two lookout observation towers, and to control seven sites of black swallow wort infestations within the wetland adjacent area using Accord, glyphosphate N-(phosphonomethyl) glycine, isopropylamine salt. The nature preserve is located across from the High Acres Landfill in the towns of Macedon, Wayne County and Perinton, Monroe County.
