Project Description:

The applicant proposes reconstruction of the boat ramp at Bar Beach. Reconstruction of the boat ramp will involve demolition and removal of the existing timber and concrete ramp utilizing a temporary steel sheeting cofferdam and dewatering; regrading the immediate subsurface; installation of a compacted base course and installation of a reinforced cast in-place concrete ramp. A rip-rap buffer is proposed to minimize scour and erosion at the seaward edge of the ramp. Portions of the construction will entail the filling of existing intertidal marsh areas adjacent to the ramp but all disturbed areas will be replanted with Spartina alterniflora after project completion. The project is located at Bar Beach Town Park at West Shore Road, NCTM#6-53-1001 & 1053 , Port Washington, North Hempstead, Nassau County on Hempstead Harbor.
