Negative Declaration

Suffolk County - Suffolk County, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Indian Island County Park/Terry's Creek Tidal Wetland Restoration will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the removal of dredge spoil and re-establishing seven acres of high-functioning tidal wetland ecosystem and open water habitat that will increase filtering capacity, enhance the cycling of organic and inorganic nutrients and pollutants, provide tidal flushing among other biological and physiochemical services, and improve water quality conditions in the western Peconic Estuary. The project is located on Cross River Drive ( Route 105) at the Suffolk County Indian Island County Park in the Town of Riverhead, New York.

Positive Declaration

Nassau County - The Town Board of the Town of Oyster Bay, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Cantiague Commons Senior Housing Community may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves the following three components:

1. Adoption by the Town Board of a new zoning district, Planned Unit Development/Residence 30 (PUD/R 30).

2. Petition to the Town Board by the applicant for a Change of Zone and Site Plan Approval under the new PUD/R 30 zoning district, to allow the development of a 390 unit senior housing community, and closure of the asphalt plant, concrete recycling and other commercial/industrial operations on the 15.18 acre property situated at 449 West John Street (commonly referred to as the Twin County site).

3. Conveyance of the 2.27 acre property situated at 50 Engel Street to the ownership of the Town of Oyster Bay and closure of the asphalt plant and other commercial/industrial operations at that location.

The project is located on West John Street in Hicksville, Town of Oyster Bay, New York.

Notice of Acceptance of Draft GEIS and Public Hearing

Suffolk County - The Town of Brookhaven Town Board, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Meadows at Yaphank Planned Development District. A public hearing on the Draft GEIS will be held on May 10, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the Brookhaven Town Auditorium, 2nd Floor, Town Hall, One Independence Hill, Farmingville, NY 11738. Written comments on the Draft GEIS will be accepted until May 21, 2011. The Draft GEIS is available for review at the Town of Brookhaven Town Hall, the Longwood Public Library and on line at: www.brookhaven.org.

The action involves a proposed change of zone on 322.37 acres of an overall 333.46 acre combined project site. The application also includes an 11 ± acre site occupied by the existing Dorade Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), which is currently in operation and serving projects in the area including Suffolk County Sewer District (SCSD #8) and the Whispering Pines/Colonial Woods condominiums. A change of zone is not needed or requested for the STP parcel.

The Meadows at Yaphank PDD will consist of retail, mixed-use commercial, office/flex spaces, and housing. The proposal consists of the phased development of approximately 333,000 square foot of retail/restaurant space, 550,000 square foot of office/flex space, 150,000 square foot hotel and 850 Residential Housing Units (townhouse, condo, rental and workforce).

The project is located at the northwestern corner of the interchange of William Floyd Parkway and the Long Island Expressway (LIE) in Yaphank, Town of Brookhaven, New York.
