Project Description:

The proposal involves a modification of an existing sand and gravel mine, to increase the life of mine area from 4.9 acres to 6.77 acres. The additional 1.87 acre area will be used as a material stock pile area in the northwest portion of the site. The site is located 2,500 feet east of State Route 86, approxmately 1/4 mile north of Co. Rt 55 intersection, and is part of a 100 acre parcel owned by Leavitt Farms, Inc. All other aspects of the mining operation remain the same, and the site will be reclamed to hay production upon completion of mining. A permit is also required from the Adirondack Park Agency, project # APA 2011-53

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is not subject to SEQR because it is a Type II action.

SEQR Lead Agency: None Designated

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than May 13, 2011.
