ENB - Region 6 Notices 4/6/2011
Oneida County - The New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Genesee Street at Oneida Square Intersection Improvement Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the correction and improvement of the confusing geometry, malfunctioning traffic and pedestrian signals and aesthetic shortcomings of this major five leg intersection. These goals will be achieved through the application of appropriate design standards to ensure a functionally acceptable intersection. A single lane roundabout is proposed to accomplish these goals. Aesthetic treatments associated with these highway improvements include brick pavers, ornamental lighting, plantings and bollards. These elements will enhance the view of the intersection and add to the historic setting of this National Registered Eligible Historic District. The project is located at Oneida Square in the City of Utica, New York.
