Project Description:

The applicant proposes a shoreline stabilization project to protect their campground from ongoing erosion. The project includes 3 stone-faced revetments (A=4650 sq ft, B=3857 sq ft, and C=2500 sq ft), totalling of 670 cu yds of excavation and 4375 cu yds of fill (consisting of large blast stones, rip rap, sand and native soil); and sand replenishment from the southern spit area to the beach area (up to approx. 250 cu yds moved annually, as needed). Project includes a planting plan to add some green space to stabilize the soils and further prevent erosion. The project is located along the shoreline of Lake Champlain at Bulwagga Bay Campground. The project is also under review by the Adirondack Park Agency (APA#2009-153).

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is an Unlisted Action and will not have a significant impact on the environment. A Negative Declaration is on file. A coordinated review was not performed.

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

A Structural-Archaeological Assessment Form has been completed. The proposed activity will not impact on registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Project Description:

The applicant has proposed to remove approximately 2,588 cubic yards of sediment from the bed of a one-tenth acre area of Echo Bay on Lake George. The material will be removed by means of hydraulic dredge, piped into a geotextile de-watering tube, and transported off-site for reuse.
