Project Description:

The facility currently is permitted to receive and process up to 170 tons per day of municipal solid waste and recyclables. This modification will allow the facility to accept construction and demolition debris at a rate not exceeding 10 tons per week. No overall increase in the 170 tons per day rate is proposed as part of this modification.

Applicant proposes to construct 65 linear feet of new steel bulkhead, install one 10' bulkhead return, remove two piling clusters, existing pipe, and floating wood ramp, and dredge an irregularly shaped area seaward of the bulkhead to -12' mean low water to allow sufficient room for tankers to access bulkhead. The resultant 650 cubic yards of dredged spoil will be placed upland on applicant's property. Project is located on Bay Blvd. (Rason Road), Lawrence.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to construct and operate a used oil transfer facility. The incoming oil product will come from waste oil generated from fuel oil tank closure projects, used oil from industrial sources such as automotive shops, and waste oil from industrial sources such as vegetable oil, mineral oil, and other similar oils which have been contaminated by physical or chemical impurities through use or accident. The product will be stored in four 7,500 gallon above ground storage tanks within a protected pit having two compartments and within a one story steel structure at the facility prior to transportation off-site to a permitted solid waste management facility. The facility is located at 3010 Burns Avenue, Wantagh, Town of Hempstead, Nassau County.
