ENB - Region 9 Notices 1/05/2011
Negative Declaration
Chautauqua County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Bittinger Gravel Pit #1 Expansion will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a 9.4 acre addition and the elimination of 2 permitted acres from the presently permitted 7.8 acre sand and gravel mine, resulting in 15.25 acres of land to be mined out of 47.5 acres owned by the project sponsor at this location. There will be no changes to the current mining methods and material processing. The revised reclamation objective is for approximately 8 acres of agricultural land, with the remainder reclaimed to meadow. The project is located south and west of Putnam Road in the Town of Chautauqua, New York.
