For Adirondack Park Agency: Comment Period Ends: December 23, 2010
Project Description: The action involves a new industrial use consisting of the installation of log debarking machine along with infeed deck, outfeed deck and bark conveyor with attendant shed. The project also consists of the review of after-the-fact amendment requests including change of operating hours from those stated in previous permit 83-33 to the current operating hours of 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and allowing continued operations of new wood shaving equipment in Building #4 from 6:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. To abate existing noise impacts from the operation of the wood shaver, the applicant proposes to enclose the opening in Building #4 as much as possible with insulated board and batten and plastic strips, install bearings in the existing conveyor, and has built a 60 foot long insulated wall between the building and the nearest off-site residential area. To abate any increase in noise from the installation of the new log debarker, the operating hours are proposed to be limited to be from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the equipment will be enclosed as much as possible in an insulated building and a concrete wall will be installed at the end of the outfeed deck.
