Ontario County - The Town of Farmington Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed 1816 Farmington Quaker Meetinghouse Phase 1 - Special Use Permit and Preliminay Site Plan will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the issuing of a Special Use Permits to allow a public building on a site located within a portion of the Town of Farmington A-80 Agricultural Zoning District and Site Plan approval for Phase 1 of a six phase site development project. The first phase of this six phase project involves the leveling of a portion of the site and pouring the concrete foundation for the museum building. It also involves the move of the 1816 museum building from an adjacent parcel of land onto the subject site and placement upon the foundation. Also included in Phase 1 is the construction of the driveway and parking area for the workers. An additional five (5) phases of this project are planned to occur between now and the year 2016 when the museum is planned to be open to the general public.
Partial funding for this project is made available through a grant award from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (NYS OPRHP). Site preparation, building renovations and other site improvements associated with subsequent phases of the project will be closely coordinated with the NYS OPRHP Central New York Regional Office. Wetland avoidance will continue to be monitored by Town staff and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Region 8 staff. A waiver to the requirements of the State Agriculture and Markets Law has been obtained. The project is located on the southeast corner of Ontario County Road #8 and Sheldon Road in the Town of Farmington, New York.
