The proposed project will require a variance from 6 NYCRR Part 505.8(c)3. The Town of Webster has granted a building permit for the proposed single family residence.

The site is located at the west end of Lake Road. As proposed, the existing home with a foot print of approximately 575 square feet will be replaced by a new home and attached porch with a combined foot print of approximately 1300 square feet. The applicant proposes to place approximately 800 cubic yards of dredge material on the County owned and operated beach that is located within an identified Coastal Erosion Hazard Area . The material will be obtained from the dredging of the U.S. Coast Guard station at Sodus Point. The material is comprised of over 95% sand and the Department has determined that beach replenishment is a suitable use for the dredge material.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes the construction of a single lane treated timber bridge across the Seneca River to provide vehicle access to the Howland's Island Unit of the Northern Montezuma Wildlife Management Area. The 20 feet wide by 120 feet long bridge will connect Carncross Road to an un-named access road. Currently, there is a temporary gravel causeway at the project site that will be removed during the bridge construction project. The construction of this bridge was previously permitted in 2002 but never constructed. The new bridge is needed for the NYS Department of Transportation suspension bridge that has been historically used for access has been condemned.
