ENB - Region 2 Notices 09/29/2010

Negative Declaration

Queens County (Queens) - The New York City Department of Environmental Permits (NYC DEP), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Beach 88th/94th Street Outfall Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction of a new 98 inch wide by 53 inch high storm sewer outfall that would be located in the Jamaica Bay Watershed. The site will also serve as a restoration site for five other NYC DEP/New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYC DDC) projects located near Jamaica Bay. NYC DEP will restore the property with native planting, regrading, a pedestrian walkway will built over the outfall at the shoreline, and removal debris to prepare the site for a waterfront park. The site has been donated to the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC DPR) and will become publicly accessible after work is complete. The project is located at Beach 88th Street and Beach Channel Drive in Edgemere, Queens, New York.

Queens County (Queens) - The New York City Department of Environmental Permits (NYC DEP), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Chandler Street Outfall Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the replacement of an existing outfall with a double barrel stormwater outfall which will discharge from the north end of Chandler Street into Molt Basin which then flows into Jamaica Bay. The undeveloped lots are New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC DPR) property and onsite restoration will take place for temporary construction related impacts to the adjacent wetlands. Restoration for permanent wetland impacts will be included in the Beach 88th/94th Restoration Plan site at Beach 88th Street and Beach Channel Drive. The project also includes building out several of the surrounding streets to their full mapped width, which will require acquisition of any properties currently within the mapped street. No additional lanes will be added. The project is located at Chandler Streel and Battery Road. Far Rockaway, Queens, New York.
