Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS and Public Hearing

Oneida County - The Town Board of the Town of New Hartford, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Break in Access from Woods Road Extension to Route 840. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on September 27, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at the Town of New Hartford Town Hall, 48 Genesee Street, New Hartford, New York. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until October 8, 2010. The Draft EIS is available from the contact person listed below and on line at: http://www.newhartfordtown.com/documents/Route840BIADSEISAug2010.pdf.

The action involves the construction of a right in/right out break-in access from Woods Highway Extension to Route 840 (a.k.a. Judd Road Extention). The Access will connect the New Hartford Office Park to Route 840. The access will allow eastbound traffic direct access to the site and permit automobiles to exit the park in the eastbound direction. A extension of Clinton Street made through the business park will also create access for the Hartford Insurance and Lowe's which will alleviate traffic at Middle Settlement Road interchange and the Jay-K intersection. The break in access will be an overall improvement to traffic flow and congestion on the overall transportation system in that area. The office park has already been approved. The Town Board has approval over the construction of town roads. The project is located at 8635 Seneca Turnpike and 4685 Middle Settlement Road in the Town of New Hartford, New York.
