Negative Declaration

Cattaraugus County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Schwab Sand and Gravel Pit will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the mining of sand and gravel on 33.24 acres of land out of 240.8 acres owned by the applicant at this location. Material processing includes the use of a screen, crusher, and a closed-loop wash plant. The life of mine is expected to be approximately 17 years. The mine floor will be reclaimed to agricultural land, with stable side slopes. The project is located east of Pigeon Hill Road (County Route 73) and north of Elton Farmersville Road (County Route 21), in the Town of Freedom, New York.
