Public Meeting Notice

Shandaken Tunnel Outlet SPDES Permit General Meeting - August 25, 2010

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) hereby gives notice that a meeting will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at the Lexington Community Hall, 141 Spruceton Road, West Kill, New York.

The meeting is being held in accordance with State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) Discharge Permit No. NY-026-8151 for the Shandaken Tunnel Outlet. NYC DEP will discuss the progress of several projects in the Catskill watershed region. Public input is welcome.

The meeting is open to the public.

Positive Declaration and Public Scoping

Orange County - The Town of Blooming Grove Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed R.W. Holdings LLC may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. A public scoping session will be held on August 18, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at the Blooming Grove Town Hall, Horton Road, Blooming Grove, New York. The action involves a 25 lot subdivision on 68.6 acres adjacent to a closed landfill known as "Mayer dump". Parcel contains a stream tributary to Lake Hildegard. The project is located north side of Prospect Road in the Town of Blooming Grove, New York

Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS and Public Hearing

Orange County - The Village of Florida Planning Board, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Iimpact Statement on the proposed Glenmere Preserve 210 unit senior housing residential development. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on August 25, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at the Village of Florida Senior Center, 3 Cohen Circle behind the Village Hall, Florida, NY. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted if delivered within twenty (20) days following the close of the public hearing. The action involves an active adult residential community and associated infrastructure including a private road system and extensions of water and sewer service, and associated amenities including a clubhouse. The project, as proposed, meets current zoning requirements, and requies site plan approval from the Planning Board. Additional approvals from Federal, State and County agencies will also be required. Copies of the DEIS are available at Village Hall, 33 Main Street, Florida, NY; the Florida Public Library, 4 Cohen Circle, Florida, NY; or online at http://www.glenmerepreserve.com/gpindex.htm. The project is located adjacent to NYS Route 17A and Glenmere Homesites Road, Florida, NY.

Rockland County - The Village of Haverstraw, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed discontinuance of Short Clove Road and related land use and zoning actions. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on September 28, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Village of Haverstraw Village Hall, 40 New Main Streeet, Haverstraw, NY. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted from August 13, 2010 to October 8, 2010. The action involves the closure of the current entrance way onto US Route 9W from the south end of Short Clove Road and the discontinuance of Short Clove Road as a Village street. Zoning for the project area will be modified as follows: the boundary of the Mountain Protection Overlay District will be relocated; the Village Zoning Law will be amended to include a new Planned Industrial 2 District, and the zoning classification of the area to the east of Route 9W will be changed from Planned Industrial to Planned Industrial 2. The Village of Haverstraw Master Plan, Waterfront Urban Renewal Plan, zoning law and zoning map will be changed accordingly. This re-zoning, necessitated by the NYS DOT taking, will bring the project area into conformance with adjacent zoning and land uses east of US Route 9W. In addition, Tilcon New York, Inc.'s mine plan for the Haverstraw mine is expected to be amended by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation due to the NYS DOT taking. The Draft EIS is available for review in the Village Clerk's office and online at the Village's website: http://www.voh-ny.com. The project is located in the area surrounding Short Clove Road and the NYS DOT access ramp to US Route 9W in the Village of Haverstraw, New York.
