Project Description:

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is pursuing a Department Initiated Modification (DIM) to the State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) Permit (NY0227706), pursuant to 6 NYCRR Part 750-1.18, and 750-1.19, the Priority Ranking System known as New York State's Environmental Benefit Permit Strategy (EBPS).

Sugar Creek Store is a truck stop/convenience store with petroleum storage and dispensing facilities. Sanitary wastewater treatment consists of two-compartment septic tank sized at 8,500 gpd, followed by sand filtration then discharging to surface water. Stormwater runoffs from the diesel pad are collected and discharged to groundwater and surface water. The receiving water for the surface discharge is a tributary of Canandaigua Lake, a class C(T) water. The following changes to the permit are proposed:

- New permit limits for parameters and monitoring frequency was added.
- The permit limit for Chlorine, Total Residual, was removed as the local health department has determined disinfection is not necessary.
