Project Description:

The NRCS proposes to excavate shallow potholes and establish loafing islands that will impact approximately 2.75 acres of freshwater wetland CS-23. Purpose of project is to restore habitat for amphibians, shorebirds, waterfowl, and other wetland species. Excess excavated materials will be spread on an upland site and seeded with a native seed mix. Application and project plans are available for review at the syracuse office.

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Douglaston Manor Inc. proposes to construct a timber harvest access road through state wetland WC-29 at property located 350 feet east of 442 Little John Road. The wetland crossing is proposed on the south side of Little John Road and would extend 400 feet through the wetland, be 12 feet wide and have three 12 inch culverts to maintain hydrology.
