Comment Period Ends: August 5, 2010
Project Description: The project as proposed is the temporary installation of a 10 inch diameter, 50 meter (164± foot) tall guyed mast to support weather monitoring instruments. The monitoring mast is proposed in an existing cleared area which has vehicular access.
St. Lawrence County - The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Langevin Excavation - Benson Mine will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves expanding a permitted 4 acre sand and gravel mine to include an additional 15.8 acres. The mine operates as a traditional surface mine using mechanized equipment. Crushing with a portable crusher and screening material may take place as needed. The project is located approximately 3,300' north of NYS Route 3, 1,000' east of County Road 60, 2.5 miles south of Newton Falls.
