Notice of Acceptance of Final EIS

Suffolk County - The East Hampton Village Zoning Board, as lead agency, has accepted a Final Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed East Hampton Library. The Final EIS is available at the East Hampton Village Hall, 86 Main Street, East Hampton, NY 11937; the East Hampton Library, 159 Main Street, East Hampton, NY 11937 and on line at: www.easthamptonvillage.org.

The action involves the issuance of a Special Permit and Area Variances to permit the construction of an addition to the existing library and a request for an interpretation that no variances are necessary. The proposal, as amended by the applicant on June 9, 2009, is to construct an addition of approximately 6,800 square feet on two levels, one of which is to be below grade, to accommodate an expanded children's room, a 60 seat handicapped accessible lecture room, associated mechanical and storage areas, bathrooms, corridors, etc. Approximately 576 square feet of existing children's space will be used to expand adult space. During the Hearing on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement, the applicant submitted a revised site plan with 42 on-site parking spaces. The Zoning Board adopted its Final Environmental Statement dated June 25, 2010. The project site is 2.265 acres, is a contributing property in the East Hampton Village Historic District as listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Main Street Historic District as regulated by Chapter 176 of the Code of the Village of East Hampton and is a Type I Action in accordance with SEQR. The project is located at 159 Main Street in the Village of East Hampton, New York.
