Project Description:

The Department has received a complete application from the Town of West Sparta for the installation of a water supply and distribution system to serve the Town of West Sparta Woodsville Water District and to take a maximum supply of water of 12,470 gallons per day from the Village of Dansville. Eight thousand linear feet of 8-inch water main and appurtenances will be installed along portions of Hartman Road, NYS Route 36, Woodsville Road, and Buck Road to serve 29 units. The project includes a crossing of Bradner Creek via directional drill methods. Proper sedimentation and erosion controls will be utilized to maintain the water quality standards of Bradner Creek.

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve this application. As a tentative determination, the Department is seeking public comment prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is a Type I action and will not have a significant effect on the environment. A coordinated review with other agencies was performed and a Negative Declaration is on file.

SEQR Lead Agency: West Sparta Town Board

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

The proposed activity is not subject to review in accordance with SHPA. The permit type is exempt or the activity is being reviewed in accordance with federal historic preservation regulations.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Jul 01, 2010.

The Department has made a tentative determination to reissue and transfer the expired SPDES permit for the Braemar Country Club, Inc. to discharge 4850 gallons per day of treated sanitary effluent from an existing septic tank, sandfilter, post aeration system to the on-site intermittent stream which is an unclassified tributary of Northrup Creek. No new construction is planned. As a tentative determination, the Department seeks public comments. The file may be reviewed at the NYSDEC Region 8 Headquarters in Avon, NY.
