Suffolk County - The Village of Sag Harbor Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed John Jermain Memorial Library may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves a proposed enlargement of the John Jermain Memorial Library with a 7,267 square foot, two story addition with a lower level to the existing 7,084 square foot existing library building. There is no existing parking and none is proposed. The proposed building would maintain a distinctly different architectural appearance from the existing building: significant portions of the new building would be glass.
The existing building will be renovated, restored and modernized, and together with the expansion the facility will continue to be a destination with short term visits where patrons may borrow from the library collection. The proposed expansion is also to provide the library patrons with dedicated program and research space, a community room, a business center, a periodical reading area and a community art gallery. The project is located at 201 Main Street in the Village of Sag Harbor, New York.

Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS and Public Hearing
Suffolk County - The Town of Brookhaven Town Board, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Artist Lake Plaza. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on July 20, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at the Town of Brookhaven Town Hall, One Independence Hill, 2nd Floor Auditorium, Farmingville, New York. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until July 30, 2010. The action involves an application to rezone 32.89 acres of A-1 zoned land to J-2 so that, with the existing 16.19 acres of J-2 area on-site, a total of 49.08 acres of contiguous J-2 zoned land would be established along Middle Country Road (this value includes the 9,460 square foot/0.22 acre dedication to the State for road widening purposes). The proposed project involves the removal of the existing former K-Mart structure and development of two large anchor stores (314,330 square feet) and seven smaller retail buildings (65,081 square feet). The project provides required parking, amenities to support the retail use, proposes sidewalks and open-air public walking and gathering areas. The project is located at 1075 Middle Country Road (NYS Route 25) in Middle Island, New York.
