Project Description:
The applicant proposes to install two new municipal groundwater production wells to replace an existing inadequate groundwater source (determined to be under the influence of surface water) for a public water supply. The existing source failed to meet Department of Health's Safe Drinking Water Act. The proposal includes construction of a new control building, 22,000 gallon below-grade concrete storage tank, chlorination equipment, and water transmisison mains. The proposed maximum taking of water is 24,480 gpd, with a average daily demand of 8,200 gpd. The new groundwater source will provide continued service to existing customers in the Hamlet of Wadhams. WSA# 11,388. The project is also under review by the Adirondack Park Agency #2010-22.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:
Project is an Unlisted Action and will not have a significant impact on the environment. A Negative Declaration is on file. A coordinated review was performed.
SEQR Lead Agency: Westport Town Board
State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:
A Structural-Archaeological Assessment Form has been completed. The proposed activity will not impact on registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures.
Coastal Management:
This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.
Opportunity for Public Comment:
Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Jun 17, 2010.
