To maintain open water areas for recreational use, the applicant proposes to treat Seven Hills Lake, portions of which include Freshwater Wetland LC-1 (Class 2) and its 100 foot adjacent area, with the algacide Captain (active ingredient copper carbonate) and the aquatic pesticide Aquathol K (active ingredient Endothall) to control algal blooms and the non-native species' Eurasian watermilfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum) and curly leaf pondweed (Potamageton crispus).

Project Description:

Sullivan County proposes to increase the authorized throughput of the currently operating Ferndale Transfer Station to a maximum combined daily throughput of 302 tons per day of municipal solid waste (MSW), construction and demolition (C&D) debris, and recyclables, not to exceed an annual throughput of 31,175 tons per year. This proposal is intended to be an interim measure necessary to accomodate the Sullivan County waste stream pending the construction of the Sullivan County Transfer Station/ Materials Recovery Facility (TS/MRF). Upon completion of construction of the new Sullivan County TS/MRF, Ferndale Transfer Station will revert to the previously authorized (via registration) maximum throughput of 12,500 tons of waste annually.

Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.
