Project Description:

The applicant proposes to remove fallen trees, illegally built foot bridges, and debris blockages from approximately 24 sites in Murder Creek located within the Village limits, using hand tools and rubber tired equipment. Two outfall swales for the stormwater sewers to be constructed within the village will be located within the Class II Freshwater Wetland, CR-10, and its 100 foot adjacent area with the water draining into Murder Creek, a Class C stream.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes the maintenance dredging of approximately 3,000 cubic yards from the existing marina basin and the stabilization of approximately 235 linear feet of shoreline with stone rip rap and native plantings. The dredging will be conducted from a barge and the sediment will placed in watertight trucks and transported off site. The dredge material does not meet the NYSDEC standards for unrestricted use so the applicant has applied for a Beneficial Use Determination from the Department's Division of Solid & Hazardous Waste. If granted, the dredge material will be reused as deep fill material at a development project (Hamlin Meadows) located within the Town of Hamlin, located on the south side of Route 18 just east of Route 19. The work area within the marina basin will be isolated from Sandy Creek through the use of a floating silt curtain.

Project Description:

The Department has received a complete application from the Village of Watkins Glen for the construction of a new water intake building and installation of a new 14 inch ductile iron water intake pipe into Seneca Lake on property adjacent to the existing facilities on Salt Point Road. The existing water intake pipe will remain in place and will be connected to the new system as a back up intake. This project will not increase the amount of water taken or the rate at which water is taken from Seneca Lake by the Village of Watkins Glen. Proper sedimentation and erosion controls will be employed to maintain the water quality of Seneca Lake.

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve this application. As a tentative determination, the Department is seeking public comment prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.
