Project Description:

The applicant proposes a new, 6.3 acre Life of Mine sand extraction. The site, located approximately 750 feet southwest of the NYS Rt 22 and Bashaw Road intersection in the Town of Mooers, is part of a 320 acre parcel owned by Allan Fewster. The applicant anticipates removal of 100,000 cubic yards of material over a ten year period. There will be no onsite processing. Reclamation will occur concurrent with completion of mining phases. Upon completion of mining, final reclamation will include grading, replacing top soil, and returning the site to agricultural production or planting it to tree seedlings.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is an Unlisted Action and will not have a significant impact on the environment. A Negative Declaration is on file. A coordinated review was not performed.

SEQR Lead Agency: None Designated

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than May 17, 2010.

Project Description:

The proposed project involves construction of a shared access drive, off NYS Route 190, to serve a two lot subdivision. The two lot site is an 11.79 acre parcel owned by Stephen McKenna and located at the northeast corner of the intersection of NYS Routes 190 and 374. Construction of the road will affect approximately 0.8 acres of the adjacent area of a state regulated wetland.
