Project Description:

The Applicant proposes to dredge and remove approximately 21,000 cubic yards of sediments from Paerdegat Basin, tributary to Jamaica Bay, located in Brooklyn, NY including approximately 15,200 cy of CSO sediments from the head end of the Basin and approximately 5,500 cy of shoaled sand from the mouth of the Basin adjacent to the Belt Parkway bridge. Approximately 9,600 cy of clean sand cap will be placed over the exposed sediments at the head end of the Basin, post-dredging. This project is required pursuant to the 2005 CSO Consent Order (CO2-20000107-8).

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

A final enviromental impact statement has been prepared on this project and is on file.

SEQR Lead Agency: NYC Dept of Environmental Protection

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Mar 04, 2010.
