Project Description:

The applicant proposes a modification to the existing 3.5 acre sand and gravel mine to allow a seven foot increase in the total depth of excavation, for a total maximum pit depth of 18 feet. The proposed increase in depth will invovle mining below the groundwater table. The 3.5 acre mine, located on the east side of Kibbie Road approximately 1 mile south of Reardon Road, is part of a 63 acre parcel owned by the Town of Bombay. Final reclamation will be a 3 acre pond, with varying depths, for waterfowl nesting and possible fish propagation.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

The proposed activity is not subject to review in accordance with SHPA. The permit type is exempt or the activity is being reviewed in accordance with federal historic preservation regulations.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Feb 26, 2010.

Project Description:

Proposed maintenance of the existing Skidmore College Boathouse, to prevent further settling of the foundation. Work consists of excavating 1,059 cubic yards of material beneath and around the boathouse and replacing with shale fill. Proposed excavation and fill involves 927 square feet of Freshwater Wetland Q-22 (Class II) and 4,792 square feet of wetland adjacent area. Preexisting grades will be restored and a wetland seed mix applied at project completion. The boathouse is located on the west side of Staffords Bridge Road, on the north bank of Fish Creek, City of Saratoga Springs.
