Project Description:

The applicant proposes the construction of a pedestrian bridge over the NYS Canal to connect two existing multi-use trails. A section of Cobb's Lane is to be relocated northward to separate vehicle traffic from multi-use trail users. Relocation of the road will require impacts to approximately 0.15 acres of NYS Freshwater Wetland Pl-2 adjacent area. The area of impact isolated within the footprint of the Old Macedon-Center Road. The new bridge abutments will be constructed above the maximum canal pool elevation of 462.0 feet but a minor disturbance of approximately 5 cubic yards of existing stone will be required to facilitate the placement of a footing on the south side of the canal.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

A cultural resources survey has been completed. Based on information provided in the survey report, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) has determined that the proposed activity will have no impact on registered or eligible archaeological sites or historic structures. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Jan 21, 2010.

The Department has made a tentative determination to issue an Article 24 wetland permit for a proposed 125 x 125 x 8 foot pond in regulated NYS Freshwater Wetland BC-12 located approximately 150 meters southeast of the existing Bristol Valley Mobile Park and just west of Mudd Creek, within the parcel proposed for a possible future park to be called Bristol Valley Mobile Estates. The area is currently a mowed farm field. The fill from the pond will placed in the upland area north of the proposed pond and will not be placed in regulated areas. The file is available for review and comment at the NYSDEC Region 8 office.
