Negative Declaration

Herkimer, Lewis, Oneida and St. Lawrence Counties - The Adirondack Park Agency, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed 2009 State Land Classification Proposal will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. Please take notice that five public hearings will be held by the Adirondack Park Agency pursuant to Section 816 of the Adirondack Park Agency Act to classify or reclassify certain State lands within the Adirondack Park. The action involves 91 State land classification proposals totaling approximately 31,056 acres and four (4) State land reclassification proposals totaling an estimated 465 acres. Total acreage involved in the action is approximately 31,524 acres.

The proposed action involves only the classification or reclassification of State lands according to the provisions of the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan. This action does not authorize the development of new structures or improvements without prior SEQRA assessment by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) and/or the Adirondack Park Agency (APA). More detailed maps, tables and narrative describing the proposed action, may be obtained at the Adirondack Park Agency. The same materials are available from the Adirondack Park Agency's website at: www.apa.state.ny.us.

The purpose of the hearings is to afford an opportunity for public comment. Any person may present an oral or written statement in regard to the proposed classifications or reclassifications. Written comments will be accepted through March 19, 2010. Description of the proposed action can be found on the Adirondack Park Agency's website at: www.apa.state.ny.us or at the Adirondack Park Agency's headquarters in Ray Brook.

The classification proposals involve lands in ten (10) counties including: Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Lewis, Oneida, St. Lawrence, and Warren all in New York State.
