Negative Declaration

Suffolk County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Shinnecock Shores Association Maintenance Dredging Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the dredging of five canals to a depth of -5 feet below low tide level; dewatering of the dredged material on a common property ownned by the Association and ultimately trucking of dredged material to an approved upland disposal site. The five canals and the dewatering site are located off Shinnecock Road in East Quogue in the Town of Southampton, New York.

Notice of Acceptance of Draft Generic EIS and Public Hearing

Suffolk County - The Town Board of the Town of Brookhaven, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed 2009 Portion Road Corridor Study and Land Use Plan for Lake Ronkonkoma and Farmingville. A public hearing on the Draft GEIS will be held on November 24, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. at the Brookhaven Town Hall, 1 Independence Hill, Farmingville, NY 11738. Written comments on the Draft GEIS will be accepted until December 4, 2009. A hard copy of the Draft GEIS is available at the Town of Brookhaven Planning Division, 1 Independence Hill, Farmingville, NY 11738. The online version of the Draft GEIS is available at the following publically accessible web site: www.brookhaven.org.

The action involves the adoption of the 2009 Portion Road Corridor Study and Land Use Plan for Lake Ronkonkoma and Farmingville. On October 27, 2009, the Brookhaven Town Board accepted the draft land use plan and Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement and set the combined SEQRA hearing and public hearing for the land use plan for November 24, 2009.

A number of re-zonings of certain parcels of land are proposed as part of the implementation of the land use plan and will be heard under a separate action. The project is located on Portion Road (CR 16) to Nichols Rd (CR 96) in the hamlets of Lake Ronkonkoma and Farmingville, New York.
