The applicant proposes to remove Phragmites australis from a 24 acre area along Champlin Creek using Glyphospate in the fall and subsequent mowing and/or burning of stems. The purpose of this proposal is to increase native species/habitat diversity in the refuge.

Project Description:

The Department has prepared a Draft Permit pursuant to Article 19 (Air Pollution Control) of the NYS Environmental Conservation Law (ECL) and made a tentative determination to issue a new State Facility Permit for the applicant's existing facility, located at 245 Marcus Blvd., Hauppauge, Town of Smithtown, Suffolk County.

Josh Packaging is a commercial flexographic printer of plastic bags. Regulated processes that are to be authorized under this permit consist of two flexographic printers that use solvent based inks. Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions from the printer exhaust is controlled by a catalytic oxidizer. The permit will cap facility annual VOC emissions at 45,000 lbs per year.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to maintenance dredge five canals within the Association property to a depth of -5 feet below low tide level over a 10 year period to maintain navigable water depths. The dredged material is proposed to be dewatered on a common property owned by the Shinnecock Shores Association located immediately north of Shinnecock Road, and ultimately trucked to an approved upland disposal site. The canals, Dolphin Canal, Marlin Canal, Whiting Canal, Tarpon Canal and Baracuda Canal, are regulated tidal wetland areas. They are located south of Shinnecock Road in East Quogue, Town of Southampton, Suffolk County.
