Notice of Acceptance of Final EIS
Chautauqua County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has accepted a Final Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Chautauqua County Landfill. A hard copy of the FEIS is available at the following locations: NYS DEC - Region 9 Office; Chautauqua County Landfill Office; Bemus Point Library; Prendergast Library. An online version of the FEIS is available on the following website: http://www.co.chautauqua.ny.us/landfill/VerticalExpansion/VerticalExpansion.htm. The action involves a 33 acre, 100 foot high vertical expansion over the existing 81 acre landfill. The remainder of the existing landfill footprint will be unchanged. The proposed height of the facility will increase from the current design elevation of 1,750 feet to 1,850 feet. The proposal will extend the life of the landfill by about approximately 4 years. The project is located at 3889 Towerville Road in the Town of Ellery, New York.
