Project Description:

The applicant proposes to place approximately 750 cubic yards of clean fill in an area of his property measuring 100' x 100', to alleviate seasonal standing water and meet neighboring grades. The site is located at 8159 Littlefield Place on Lake Ontario, approximately 4.5 miles south of Henderson. The site is in the adjacent area of regulated freshwater wetland H-11, a 378 acre Class I wetland, separated from the wetland by a common use highway.

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

Cultural resource lists and map have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to undertake riparian buffer restoration and stream improvement work along 4,000' of the Deer River at the former Sears Pond site located between Sears Pond Road and Olin Road, approximately 5 miles south of New Boston. Work will include shade tree planting and in-stream J-Hook rock/log vane structures to enhance brook trout habitat. Included will be the construction of a four car parking area off Sears Pond Road, and an 8' wide surface handicap accessible gravel path from the parking area to the Deer River. Approximately 50' of the 1,000' pathway would be located within regulated freshwater wetland SP-7, a 95 acre Class II wetland. The 50' path site would be located in a scrub/shrub and wet meadow wetland area.
