Negative Declaration

Oneida County - The City of Oneida, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Glenmore Dam Improvements will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves Dam improvements to include structural stabilization measures (including installation of post-tensioned anchors), concrete rehabilitation and repair, removal of the existing flashboard system, and modifications to raise the spillway crest elevation. Expanded erosion protection along the downstream toe of the dam, possibly integrated with the proposed stabilization measures, is also recommended. The project will also include rehabilitation and upgrades to existing gate house mechanical systems, as well as security improvements at the Dam site.

The City owned Dam property consists of 423.7 contiguous acres and is located on Florence Creek. The reservoir currently has a water surface area of 87.2 acres. Once the Dam is raised, the water surface area will be 99 acres. While some of the surrounding wetlands will be impacted by this action, it is also anticipated that additional wetland acreage will result. The project is located on Glenmore Road in the Town of Annsville, New York.
