Project Description:

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve an application for two new discharges to groundwater. The first discharge is for the stormwater drainage from a proposed diked above ground fuel tank farm at an average daily flow of 5,000 gallons. The diked stormwater will be pumped through a hydrocarbon removal filter prior to discharging to drywells. The second discharge is for the passenger terminal aircraft ramp stormwater drainage system where aircraft deicing takes place during the winter months. The daily average flow of 46,000 gallons will discharge to an existing recharge basin. The facility is located at 100 Arrival Avenue, Ronkonkoma, Town of Islip, Suffolk County.

The applicant proposes to maintenance dredge an existing boat basin to a maximum depth of 4' below mean low water. The proposal includes the hydraulic removal of 6000 cubic yards of sediment to a dewatering site on an adjacent site formerly used as a dredged material site for past dredging cycles. The proposed project is located off St. Johnsland Road on the west shore of the Nissequogue River on the site of the former Kings Park Psychiatric Hospital property. The Nissequogue River State Park Marina utilizes the basin once used by the Kings Park Yacht Club and the Nissequogue Yacht Club.

The applicant proposes to install two (2) geothermal supply wells with submersible pumps.
